Associate Professor

Universidad de Málaga

Telecommunications Engineer (1998) and Doctor of Telecommunications Engineering (2015) from the University of Málaga. In 1999, he joined the Department of Communications Engineering at the University of Málaga, where he is currently an Associate Professor in the area of Signal Theory and Communications. During this time, he has taught both theoretical and practical courses in Optical Communications and Optical Networks since 2001, in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Telecommunications Engineering offered at the Higher Technical School of Telecommunications Engineering.

His research work is focused on optical communications. His main research line is the design and simulation of fiber-optic communication systems and coherent reception schemes (optical head and digital signal processing). Among the international research projects he has participated in, which have resulted in publications in top-quartile journals and international conferences, the European projects MIRTHE (Monolithic InP-based Dual Polarization Integrated Receiver and Transmitter for Coherent 100-400Gb Ethernet) and CELTIC 100-GET (100 Gb Carrier-Grade Ethernet Transport Technologies) stand out. These projects involved renowned universities and companies. More recently, he has participated in the applied research project on free-space optics IPAWOT (Integrated Optical Antennas for Wireless Optical Transceivers).
