Pablo Ginel Moreno is a prominent engineer and entrepreneur in the field of integrated photonics. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2018 and his Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2020, both from the University of Málaga (UMA). During his studies, he was awarded the prize for the best Final Degree Project in both degrees.
In 2021, Ginel Moreno received first place in the Best Student Paper Award at the IEEE Group IV Photonics Conference for his presentation titled “Integrated metamaterial surface-emitting antenna for beam steering applications.” Later, in 2023, he defended his doctoral thesis titled “Surface-emitting antennas for optical phased arrays based on silicon waveguides,” focusing on the development of integrated optical antennas for applications such as optical interconnections and on-chip LIDAR systems.
As a co-founder of AGPhotonics, a spin-off company from UMA established in May 2023, Ginel Moreno and his team are dedicated to developing optical transceivers integrated into miniaturized chips. These devices aim to revolutionize optical wireless communications, offering more compact and efficient solutions compared to traditional systems. The company has been recognized with the EIBT accreditation (Innovative Technology-Based Company) for its high technological capability and innovative products.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Ginel Moreno is actively involved in the academic and technological community, sharing his expertise in courses and conferences on photonics and its applications.
