José Manuel Luque González is an Assistant Professor at the University of Málaga. Over the past decade, his research activities have focused on the development of new metamaterial topologies with subwavelength gratings to enhance light control in silicon photonic chips and high-performance Bragg reflectors. He has co-authored more than 80 publications in journals and conferences, as well as 2 families of international patents on this topic. He has received multiple national awards for his contributions to subwavelength grating metamaterials, including the Best Doctoral Thesis in Telecommunications Engineering defended at the University of Málaga in 2022, the Best Doctoral Thesis in Satellite Communication Systems awarded by Hispasat S.A., and the Best Young Inventor award granted by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
