Enrique Joven Álvarez holds a PhD in Physics and has worked as an engineer at the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) since 1991. He is currently one of the heads of the Laboratory of Imaging and Sensors for Astronomy (LISA) at IAC, along with Luis Fernando Rodríguez Ramos and José Javier Díaz García.
The LISA laboratory is dedicated to the characterization, integration, and development of sensors and cameras used in telescopes, covering the visible to infrared spectrum. Since its creation in 2007, LISA has expanded its capabilities to include various types of sensors, such as CCDs, CMOS, EMCCDs in the visible range, and InGaAs, MCTs, and microbolometers in the SWIR, MWIR, and LWIR infrared ranges, respectively.
Enrique Joven has been instrumental in the evolution and consolidation of LISA, participating in the design and improvement of calibration benches for the characterization of detectors in different spectral ranges. Additionally, he has contributed to the development of data acquisition systems and the integrated control of devices for the evaluation of astronomical cameras and sensors.
