Daniel Benedikovic received M.Sc. (2011) and PhD. (2015) degrees in Telecommunications from University of Žilina, Slovakia. He completed several educational/research internships at Aalto University, Finland, University of Málaga, Spain, National Research Council, Canada, and Carleton University, Canada, all supported by national and international travel grant agencies. As a post-doc researcher (2015-2020), he spent 5 years with the Centre de Nanosciences et de Nanotechnologies, CNRS, Université Paris-Sacaly, France. Since 2020, he holds an associate professor position at University of Žilina, Slovakia, shaping the education and research in Slovakia for fields of fiber optics and integrated photonics, activities funded by national and European grants. His current research interests include the development of passive/active photonic devices, hybrid optical systems, subwavelength metamaterials, and next-generation passive optical networks. He authored/co-authored 36 journals, 2 book chapters, and more than 200 invited/contributed conference presentations. He also received several national and international awards and recognitions either for his scientific activities or reviewing service for the optics/photonics community.
