Alejandro Sánchez Postigo

Assistant Professor

Universidad de Málaga

Alejandro Sánchez Postigo obtained his degrees in Telecommunications Engineering and PhD, both from the University of Málaga, in 2015 and 2019, respectively. Since the beginning of his academic career, he has worked in the field of silicon photonics, specializing in the design of integrated optical devices with subwavelength metamaterials. He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Southampton (UK), where he demonstrated a new guiding platform for the mid-infrared band, as well as at NRC Canada and Carleton University (Canada), where he developed high-performance optical antennas. In 2022, he entered the field of integrated quantum photonics through a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Münster (Germany), where he developed integrated single-photon detectors based on superconducting nanowires. Since June 2024, he has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communications Engineering at the University of Málaga. He is co-author of 22 articles in journals indexed in the JCR (including Nature Communications, ACS Photonics, Nanophotonics, and Laser & Photonics Reviews), more than 60 conference papers, and 3 patents.
