Alejandro Fernández Hinestrosa is a PhD student at the University of Málaga. He has extensive experience in the design and simulation of integrated Bragg optical filters in silicon photonics with complex spectral responses, as well as their application to quantum optics and communications. He has been awarded the “San Gabriel” Prize from the Official College of Telecommunications Engineers of Eastern Andalusia and Melilla (COIT-AORM) for his academic trajectory. Recently, he won the First Prize in the Tech Arena PhD Contest on Silicon Photonics by Huawei Europe for his work on polarization-insensitive integrated filters on silicon nitride. He expects to defend his doctoral thesis by the end of 2025, with three high-impact scientific articles published and participation in two international conferences.
